Four kilometres west, the Aoyama Farmers Market gathers organic producers on weekends. Odaiba Beach, nearly four kilometres across the bay, offers a manufactured stretch of sand with views back to the city. Mount Fuji, Japan's sacred stratovolcano and a UNESCO World Heritage site, rises ninety-nine kilometres southwest on clear winter mornings.
Winter mornings bite, with January lows near freezing and pale sunshine cutting through dry air. Cherry blossoms erupt in late March and early April, when the city floods with hanami parties beneath pink canopies and temperatures climb into the mid-teens. The rainy season arrives in June, bringing humidity and frequent downpours that slick the pavement and soften the skyline.
July and August turn sweltering, with highs near thirty degrees and thick, moisture-heavy air. September cools slightly but remains the wettest month.
Autumn is the prime season: October and November bring crisp days, fiery momiji foliage in the parks, and crystalline skies that frame Mount Fuji's distant cone.
