The Church and Dominican Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie, two kilometres west, shelters Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper in its refectory, Bramante's architecture framing one of the world's most fragile masterpieces.

Milan Linate sits seven kilometres east with quick taxi and bus connections. Malpensa, forty kilometres northwest, serves intercontinental routes and links to the city by rail and motorway.

Walk two kilometres west to Santa Maria delle Grazie, where Leonardo's Last Supper occupies the convent refectory, its fading pigments requiring advance-booked, timed entry. The Mercato del Suffragio, 1.6 kilometres south, operates mornings with stalls selling Lombard cheeses, salumi, and vegetables. For wine in low-lit intimacy, I Dilettanti Wine Bar, 1.4 kilometres northwest, curates small-producer bottles from Piedmont and beyond.

Winter brings the city's sharpest light: crystalline mornings when the Duomo's marble glows white against blue skies, though fog can settle for days and temperatures hover near freezing. January and December stay dry, with occasional snow dusting the piazzas. This is aperitivo season indoors, the streets quieter, museum queues shorter.

Spring arrives wet. March through May sees frequent rain and sudden warmth, chestnuts leafing out in the parks and sidewalk tables reappearing. The city shakes off its winter reserve; fashion week crowds return in late April.

Summer turns Milan slow and sultry. July and August reach nearly thirty degrees, humidity clinging to the stone arcades. Many restaurants close for August ferragosto, but the canals stay lively at dusk. September cools into the city's best month: warm afternoons, crisp evenings, and the cultural calendar fully reopened.
